Global Recycling Day Awareness

Through our mobile recycling trailer Massy Stores (SLU) continues to provide year-round opportunities for customers and the general public to deposit not only plastic bottles, but electrical and electronic waste and aluminum cans for recycling. 

On Global Recycling Day (March 18th) the company planned a major reusables collection drive providing an opportunity for customers to drop off recyclables and in exchange qualify to win Massy vouchers and points. 

Approximately six hundred (600 lbs) of electronic waste (e-waste) and an estimated nine hundred (900) large bags of plastic bottles were dropped off during the five (5) hour activity. These materials are hazardous to the environment when dumped in the landfill. 

The e-waste was transported to the the company’s recycling services partner for disassembly and recovery of recyclable components. The plastic bottles were sorted and compacted into bales for shipment into circular economy manufacturing hubs.
