MASSY STORES ENGAGES REGISTERED FARMERS TO BUILD RESILIENCE THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS IN THE AGRICULTURE SECTOR!
Tuesday September 3rd, Castries Saint Lucia. After a four-year hiatus the annual registered farmers’ meeting hosted by Massy Stores Saint Lucia was reconvened and focused on strengthening relationships between farmers and key stakeholders. Insightful presentations and lively discussions set the stage for future growth in the agriculture sector through continued collaboration and inspired innovation.
Farmers are often regarded as the backbone of society, and the recently held registered farmers meeting under the theme “Building Resilience Through Partnerships in Agriculture,” focused on forging impactful collaborations for sustained advancement. This forum saw a significant turnout of farmers and key stakeholders including Renwick and Company, Carasco and Sons, World University Service of Canada and the Taiwanese Technical mission. Perishables Manager at Massy Stores, Dunstan Demille, delivered a detailed and informative presentation, offering key insights on the sector’s performance and highlighted market opportunities.
Participants were encouraged to engage with stakeholders, ask key questions and offer recommendations to drive progress in the agriculture and food retail sectors.
Managing Director of Massy Stores, Martin Dorville, praised the reconvening of the Annual General Farmers Meeting as a crucial step in strengthening stakeholder networks and reaffirming Massy Stores’ dedication to advancing St. Lucia’s agriculture sector.
Dorville highlighted Massy’s commitment to strong communication, timely payments, and hassle-free processes as essential for fostering better collaboration between local producers and retailers. He also reminded the audience of the launch of the QR Code just over a month ago which gives farmers an opportunity to be featured on the Massy website, making the connection with consumers. Guest Speaker Agriculture Minister Alfred Prospere commended Massy Stores for its efforts to strengthen St. Lucia’s agricultural sector and emphasized the government’s initiatives to enhance protection for farmers.
The event featured informative sessions, giveaways, and engaging discussions, leaving participants energized and eager to elevate Saint Lucia’s agriculture. Massy Stores officials highlighted a focus on working with partners which can result in additional benefits to farmers, such as more affordable farming equipment, tools and fertilizers, to further enhance the success of the farming sector.
