Massy Stores Contributes TVs to OKEU’s Special Baby Care Unit in Support of Prematurity Awareness Month Campaign
The Owen King Hospital received a special delivery this month. Massy Stores donated two fifty inch television sets to the hospital which will be used in the Special Baby Care Unit and Pediatric Wards respectively. The television sets were donated as part of the observances of Prematurity Awareness Month.
Head of Pediatrics at OKEU, Dr. Lashorn Christian, accepted the TVs on behalf of the hospital during a presentation at Massy Stores Home. Dr. Lenn Shillingford, Registrar in the Pediatric Department of OKEU says the donation of TV’s will support the hospital’s education, advocacy and awareness drives around such subjects as Prematurity.
He emphasized such factors as regular prenatal care, practicing a healthy lifestyle, and avoiding smoking, alcohol, and drugs as necessary to reduce the risk of premature births.
The TV sets have been placed in the Children’s Ward (as entertainment for the children) and in the Special Baby Care Unit (education for parents on how to deal with premature babies especially when they get home).
This is not the first time that Massy is donating to the hospital in keeping with its health and wellness focus.
