Helping Empower Girls with Seeds for Success
Massy Stores teamed up with the Do-Nation Foundation to host the second annual ‘Girls Who Brunch Saint Lucia Experience’ on October 28, 2023 where girls were provided with a safe space to learn essential life skills and build relationships with positive role models. The activity was held under the theme “Dreams worth fighting for”.
Participants were mentored and learnt important skills in self-worth and self-confidence. They were exposed to a variety of activities, including keynote presentations, panel discussions, exhibitions, and skills training.
One unique component of the event for girls, ages nine to seventeen was the seed planting activity sponsored by Massy Stores which taught the girls about agriculture, environmental care, and life skills.
For Massy Stores, the seed planting activity brought together three areas of the company’s Social Responsibility – Youth Development. Agriculture and Environment. Sariah Best Joseph of Massy encouraged the girls to have a growth mindset. Each girl was given seeds to plant at home with their families.
The Girls Who Brunch Volunteers will monitor the girls and help document the growth of their seeds and plants.
Massy Stores and Do-Nation view The Girls Who Brunch Saint Lucia Experience as a valuable initiative that helps to prepare the girls for success in life.
The event also provided the girls with the opportunity to build relationships with positive role models, and develop a sense of self-worth and confidence.
