Comforting the Comforters – Massy Stores Home donates to Hospitals
July 23rd, 2021
On July 30, 2021, Massy Stores Home donated $10,000 worth of home goods to the Millennium Heights Medical Complex for the benefit of the hardworking and dedicated health professionals employed at the facility. The donation included furniture and large and small modern, energy-efficient appliances that will go toward outfitting the lounges of the three health institutions contained within the medical complex (the Owen King EU Hospital, the National Mental Wellness Centre, and the Turning Point Rehabilitation Centre).
Divisional Head for Corporate Communications and Marketing, Mrs. Sariah Best-Joseph, said the company recognized the critical need to maintain the wellbeing of health workers especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She extended gratitude on behalf of the Massy Stores group to the health professionals for their service and sacrifice.
“At Massy Stores, we pride ourselves on being a force for good, so when we were approached by the organization to support the lounges of the three institutions that fall under the administration of the complex, we were very happy to assist,” she said. “The range of appliances that Massy Stores Home offers means that we were able to assemble an impressive selection for you, and we hope that those whom it will benefit, will be able to enjoy it. We are humbled to be part of what you are doing as an organization and honored to be part of Saint Lucia’s response to COVID-19.”
Ms. Charmaine Anthony, Senior Manager for Corporate Human Resources at the Millennium Heights Medical Complex received the goods from the Massy team on behalf of the medical institution.
“Our employees are expected to work really long hours and so we understand the need for comfort—the need to create a space and an environment that makes it conducive for them to work. This is a priority for us. It is essential that we pay attention to their wellbeing and as a Human Resource Department our goal is to ensure that our employees’ comfort and wellbeing is put first.” Ms. Anthony also thanked Massy Stores for its generous contribution to help create a relaxing and aesthetically pleasing space: “If I were to use the slogan of Massy Stores Home, this donation is our way to beautiful lounges for our staff,” she said.
This is not Massy Stores’ first intervention in support of Saint Lucia’s medical sector since COVID-19. At the onset of the pandemic Massy Stores was among the first to respond to the crisis through the purchase of five ventilators valued at EC $250,000.
