Boulevard is now Massy Stores Supermarket: City Store
August 9th , 2021
Relocated from its former site at the William Peter Boulevard, the new Massy City Store, now located on Manoel Street in Castries, promises an enhanced shopping experience for patrons, with increased square footage, expanded product offerings, and new features such as a delicatessen, pharmacy, and a MoneyGram service counter for money transfers.
The City Store launch on August 9, 2021 is the third in a series of new supermarket openings in Saint Lucia, part of an island wide expansion plan that aims to increase customer convenience, cater to growing demand, and improve the ease of access to Massy Stores’ retail grocery establishments.
Managing Director of Massy Stores Saint Lucia, Mr. Martin Dorville, said the move was opportune as the previous location did not allow for the delivery of high standards and modern conveniences that Massy Stores Supermarkets had become synonymous with
“This project took a long time to come to fruition because we had to get it right. We had to make sure that the investment could generate the expected returns,” he said. “Our previous location in the Boulevard could not provide that. The store did not meet Massy Supermarket’s standards, and that is why we endeavored to get here today.” The Boulevard branch provided 11,000 square feet of space, while the new Massy City Store boasts over 27,000.
Ms. Robertina Isaac is a Massy Stores team member who started her career at the Boulevard branch in 1977 under the JQ Charles group of companies. She has been with the organization for 44 years. Ms. Isaac assisted longstanding customer, Ms. Flora Hippolyte, who was bestowed the honor of the ribbon cutting. Ms. Hippolyte is a small canteen operator who shopped at the Massy Stores’ Boulevard branch daily, for almost 28 years. The ribbon cutting marked the official opening of the new Massy City Store.
Mr. Gordon Charles, a member of the Board of Directors in Saint Lucia, reflected on the company’s mission to “continuously extend its reach” and “provide a pleasurable shopping experience” for all patrons.
With a stated pledge to help build the communities it serves, Mr. Charles added that Massy Stores Saint Lucia also has a time-honored tradition of supporting community members.
“Take Robertina, for example. She has been with the group for longer than I have. That is significant because it shows that the company and the group has continued to provide a legacy of opportunity for people, and that is important to us as a Saint Lucian company,” he said.
