The theatre is alive and well in Saint Lucia with the production of Papa Diable, the Devil at Christmas by the Kiddicrew Theatre Company, a nonprofit creative arts organization. The play is set to open this Thursday evening (November 3rd) at the National Cultural Centre.

The young and vibrant cast were presented to sponsors at the launch event held at the rehearsal studio last month.  As a proud sponsor of culture and youth development in a variety of ways, Massy Stores St Lucia was elated to stand with the talented cast and crew under the watchful eye of its Producer and Founder, June Frederick.

Presenting EC $2,500 to the group, Divisional Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications for Massy Stores Sariah Best-Joseph expressed gratitude to the team for keeping the Arts alive and stated, ‘as a company, we understand the sacrifice and commitment which leads to a production like this one and are excited to be on board for another year in a much larger way. As Massy Stores continue to reinforce our commitment to youth development as a strong area focus, we are happy to support such a worthy cause which we hope will inspire a new generation.’

Producer, Mrs. June Frederick added her gratitude to the sponsors and the Walcott family who allowed the use of Roderick Walcott’s play and added, ‘we are happy to present Roderick Walcott’s plays to the generations who do not know his work which is part of the cultural landscape of Saint Lucia. We are especially grateful for the support given as we strive to move forward and develop these kids besides the setbacks which threatened the production.’

On November 3rd 2016, at the National Cultural Centre, the curtains are set to open on the premier of Papa Diable, the Devil at Christmas with a 16-member cast directed by Melissa Stacey Giddings with assistance from Shakira Roberts and Delano Payne, instrumental dramaturg coaching by Mr. Kendal Hippolyte. Tickets are available at the Yard and Kiddicrew Theatre Company.

Kiddicrew Theatre Company is dedicated to bringing traditional dance to the younger generations with an appreciation for drama. What started as a television show, Kiddicrew has branched into productions, workshops in schools and Summer programmes all geared towards increasing the awareness of the works of noted Saint Lucian playwrights.
