Massy Stores Signs Ec $150k Mou For Plastic Waste Management Projects

On Friday July 12, 2019 Massy Stores Slu Ltd. Signed A Memorandum Of Understanding With The Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund (Sluncf), To Manage A Portion Of The Funds Collected From The Plastic Charge. This Is The Charge, Which Was Initiated Last Year, As Part Of A Plan To Transition Customers To Reusable Bags. The Amount Donated Is One Hundred And Fifty Thousand Dollars (Ec$150,000).

These Funds Will Allow The Sluncf To Makes Grants To A Wide Range Of Both Marine And Land-based Conservation And Environment Related Activities, Including Alternative Sustainable Livelihoods. Based On The Terms Of The Mou Environmental Projects With A Focus On Plastic Waste Management Or Which Have A Plastic Waste Management Component Will Receive Priority.

Massy Stores Is Confident About The Partnership With The Sluncf Given That Organisation’s Focus On The Conservation, Restoration, And Effective Management Of Saint Lucia’s Biodiversity And Natural Resources. Importantly The Sluncf’s Governance Structure, Operations, Administration, Asset Management, Resource Mobilization And Environmental Safeguards Meet International Standards. These Factors Were Taken Into Account As Part Of The Agreement To Collaborate.
