Massy Stores Renews Pledge to assist Women Living with Breast CancerMassy Stores renewed their pledge to support the breast cancer cause in St. Lucia for the 11th year.  This was done at a press conference at Massy Stores Mega on Friday September 21st, 2008.

At the launch of their Breast Cancer Campaign 2018 under the theme ‘Friends in the Fight’, Mrs. Janice Lionel – Divisional Head of Operations at Massy Stores explained the change in the campaign this year. “The General Mills worldwide “Save Lids to Save Lives Campaign” campaign ended about 3 years ago but continued in the Caribbean.  The Breast Cancer Campaign has unfortunately now stopped for the Caribbean. This means that the Massy Stores/Yoplait Walk will not be taking place this year. However, not all is lost.  Massy Stores now sees an opportunity to re-establish and develop new partnerships with friends in the fight to continue to help to bring awareness and raise funds for women living with breast cancer”

Therefore, in the absence of a Massy Stores led Cancer Walk, Massy Stores will continue to be a force for good, and in addition with their in store fund raising efforts will by supporting other existing entities who currently raise funds for women living with cancer.

Massy Stores Breast Cancer Campaign 2018 will include customers’ ability to make a donation at the cash register when cashing out in denominations of $5, $10, $15 and $20 up to a maximum of $200.00 (Donation will appear on the grocery bill); and Massy Stores will match the funds raised up to $6,000.  This will be done between October 1st and November 11th, 2018 and all funds raised will go to Faces of Cancer.

Their signature breast cancer pink items (tote bags, pens and other fun trinkets) will be on sale at all Massy Stores and part proceeds of each sale will be donated to Faces of Cancer as well.  Wear it proudly on Faces of Cancer, Pink Fridays during the month of October.

On select days in October, the St. Lucia Cancer Society will be available at Massy Stores, to provide information on breast cancer, and customers will also have an opportunity to join the Society as a member.  Scheduled days will be announced via Massy Stores Facebook and Instagram page (Massystoresslu).

New partnerships/collaborations were formed with CIBC First Caribbean - Walk for a Cure, which will be held on October 7th.  Customers can register at Massy Stores and enjoy delicious Yoplait at the end of the Walk.

The campaign does not end in November as with previous years.  We have formed a new partnership with Club GAR and Walk 4 a Cause next year May where customers too can register at Massy Stores.  Funds raised through this partnership/collaboration will be donated to the National Community Foundation.

The partnership between General Mills through their Yoplait Brand and Massy Stores have raised over $400,000 for women living with breast cancer over a 10-year period (2008-2018).

Every year we challenge you St. Lucia.  Do not stand by idly.  Play your part in any way you can.  Today is someone else tomorrow it could be you or me.  Together, we can make a difference.
